Archbishop Ghaleb Bader new apostolic nuncio to the Dominican Republic

President of the Dominican Republic Danilo Medina Sánchez has received the credentials of H.E. Msgr. Ghaleb Bader as apostolic nuncio to the republic which is located in the Carribean Sea.

In August 2017, The Holy Father Francis had appointed as apostolic nuncio in the Dominican Republic and apostolic delegate in Puerto Rico H.E. Msgr. Ghaleb Bader.

Archbishop Ghaleb Bader entered the Latin Patriarchate Minor Seminary in Beit Jala in 1963. He was ordained priest in Amman by Bishop Ne’meh Samaan on June 13, 1975. He was vicar to then- Fr. Michel Sabbah, future Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem at Christ the King parish in the same city in 1976. In 1979, he began a career as a canonist, participated in the Arabic translation of 1983 Code of Canon Law and became president of the Ecclesiastical Court of Jerusalem in 1988. He became parish priest of the Annunciation parish in Amman, in Jabal Luweibdeh in August 1992, taking the presidency of the Ecclesiastical Court of Amman. In 1998, he devoted his time exclusively as the chairman of the tribunal.

He was appointed Archbishop of Algiers by Pope Benedict XVI on May 24, 2008, replacing Bishop Henri Teissier, and was consecrated bishop by the Patriarch Fouad Twal, with Patriarch Michel Sabbah and Bishop Henri Tessier as co-consecrators on June 17, 2008 in the church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Jordan.

Archbishop Bader was consulter to the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue from 1996 to 2001.

On May 23, 2011, His Holiness Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Ghaleb Bader as Titular Archbishop of Mathara in Numidia and Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan.
