Syria: Middle East Council of Churches organizes vocational training for youth

The Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) continues its vocational training aiming to support young people and to help them integrate in the labor market. Two courses were organized in rural Damascus, namely men hairdressing and sewing.

A total of 15 men participated in the men hairdressing course while 10 women enrolled in the sewing training. The participants were aged between 18 and 30 years old.

The two-months courses were constantly followed up on and monitored by the MECC team. At the end of the training courses, all participants joined a business course to learn how to start-up their own small business. When finished, they received tool kits containing all the items needed to start working.

The MECC has all the time been committed to paying a key role integral role in community service and economic development. This important role offers many programs and services to fulfill its mission.
