The Apostolic Nunciature in Amman, in cooperation with Caritas Jordan, has held a conference designed to discuss the conditions of the displaced Iraqi Christians and those residing in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan since August 2014.
Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan and Iraq Archbishop Giorgio Lingua, Jordan Caritas Director Wael Suleiman, representatives from the US embassy, in addition to representatives from charity organizations that support charities Iraqis in Jordan, the UNICEF, and the United Nations offices took part in the conference. Present were also a number of displaced Iraqis living in Jordan and priests in charge of centers providing safe havens for Iraqis.
The conference began with observing a minute of silence and prayer for the spirit of the martyr Muaz Kasasbeh, for the victims of wars, conflicts and natural disasters in the world, as well as for the spirit of late Sister Carmela, sister of Bishop Maroun Lahham.
Discussions focused on the activities of Caritas and charity organizations in addition to the future of the Iraqi brethren who were displaced because of their faith.
