Governor General of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher Leonardo Visconti patronized on Wednesday, September 13, the inauguration of the Latin Patriarchate kindergarten Section and the new floor that will house grades 9 and 10 students in Noaur.

The official and popular ceremony was attended by Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop William Shomali, Patriarch Emeritus Fouad Twal, Governor of Naour Dr. Jamal Al-Fayez, Mayor of Naour Retired Major General Zayed Al-Ajarmah, and Director General of the Latin Patriarchate Schools Fr. Ashraf Nimri.

School Director Arwa Makhamra Habaybeh delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the administrative and educational members of staff. Then parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Naour and Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media in Jordan Fr. Rif'at Bader said that this achievement is designed to serve the Jordanian people who constitute one family under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II. He pointed out that the Latin Church in Naour was founded in 1924, the present church was built in 1956, the school was founded in 1954 and built in 1991, while the kindergarten section was built in 1971.

Fr. Bader continued that the schools of the Latin Patriarchate, which follow the laws and regulations of the Jordanian Ministry of Education are pastoral and charity ones that do not seek to make financial profit. Stressing that this situation applies to Christian cultural and social institutions in our dear country as they are open all citizens with no ethnic, sectarian, or religious discrimination, he said that all citizens are equal before the law as they contribute to serving their homeland, their leadership and humans who constitute the major asset in Jordan.

In his address, Fr. Bader thanked School Director Arwa Mukhrama Habaybeh, director of the Kindergarten Section Khuloud Khzouz, the Rosary nuns, the parish council in Naour, Knights of the Holy Sepulcher who contributed to the project, the financial department of the Latin Patriarchate--that was formerly presented by Fr. Imad Twal and Fr. Butros Hijazin and currently represented by Mr. Sami Al-Yousef and Deacon Jubran Salameh, and the support provided by the people of Naour, the Latin scouts of Al-Misdar Community, the Catholic Center for Studies and Media, and the Peace and Friendship International Organization. He also thanked Caritas Jordan for running the schools entrusted with providing education to the Syrian and Iraqi brethren who took shelter in dear Jordan, the safe resort for good education.

Then Bishop Shomali said a prayer to bless the premises. He also urged the students, their teachers and their parents to serve as a beacon of love and brotherhood, as well as to act as a fertile and safe environment by producing generations that love the Almighty God, adhere to their faith--whether Muslim or Christian--and strive for the advancement and prosperity of society.

Later, the governor general of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher inaugurated the premises by touring the site while national songs were played. Students delivered speeches in Arabic, English and Italian.
