Fr. Saqer Hijazeen celebrates his first Mass in his township Smakiyeh

Fr. Saqer Hijazeen celebrated his first Mass in his township Smakiyeh, southern Jordan, on Friday, June 23. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Joseph Sweiss and Fr. Salem Loulas from Jordan and Palestine who have been ordained recently by Most Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

At the outset of the celebration, Fr. Aktham Hijazeen welcomed Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop William Shomali, the priests, and the believers noting that the Sacrament of Priesthood embodies the sacrament of incarnation and redemption, which Lord Jesus presented on the Cross. He added that through this sacrament, God wanted salvation to continue through the message conveyed by priests. Stressing that priests repeat the process of redemption every time they celebrate holy Mass, he added that the Sacrament of Priesthood is a blessing and a sublime message in the world of today.

At the end of the Mass, Fr. Saqer Hijazeen thanked the Almighty God for his divine and invaluable gift which enabled him to serve the Church Sacraments. He also thanked Bishop Shomali for sharing his joy in celebrating his first Mass. He also thanked his parents and the priests who helped him serve the purpose of faith and salvation.
