'Our Lady of Fátima' spreads love and mercy in Jordan

Amman-en.abouna.org

For the third day in a row, Our Lady of Fátima continues to spread Her roses and mercy everywhere through the visits of Her statue to various parishioners in the Land of Baptism. The tour took place with the participation of the visiting delegation from Portugal chaired by Fr. Vítor Coutinho, vice-rector of Our Lady of Fatima grotto in Portugal, and in the presence of Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media in Jordan Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader, who organized the visit, as well as in cooperation with Latin Patriarchate, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism.

The first leg of the visit was in northern Jordan, particularly at the Monastery and the grotto of the Lady of the Mount in the town of Anjara where a Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Yousef Francis in the presence of the believers from northern Jordan. The Mass was concelebrated by parish priest of St. George the Martyr Church in Irbid Fr. Suleiman Shobash, assistant priest of the Church of Immaculate Conception in Husun Fr. Amer Jubran, and Fr. Simon Hijazin.

Later, the statue of Our Lady of Fatima was returned to Amman where Parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima Church of the Greek Melkite Church Fatima in Jabal Amman Fr. Nader Sawooq celebrated Mass. The Mass was concelebrated by parish priest of Latin Church of St. Joseph Fr. Wissam Mansour and Archimandrite Bassam Shahatit. After the Mass, a festive tour was held with the statue of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fátima proceeding to the Latin Church of St. Joseph.

On the third day of the Marian celebrations, a solemn Mass was celebrated at Christ the King Church in Al-Misdar, downtown Amman, by Fr. Adnan Bader in the presence of a large number of believers. In his homily, Fr. Adnan reacted to "the numerous criticism for this unique visit, which enriches our Christian faith, especially in our war-torn East."

He said: "On the Holy Thursday, Lord Jesus Christ said: 'This is my body, and this is my blood cup.' And on Good Friday He repeated the same words. He said to our Mother, Virgin Mary, 'O Woman, this is Your Son, O disciples, this is your Mother.' These references indicate the great value of what is referred to and thus it is defined in particular.''

He added, "How can you, as a Christian, believe in Christ, and then ignore or reject His divine Mother? Believing in the Mother of Christ is something we are proud of. She is the one who became the mother of every one of us, and become Mother of mankind. St. Augustine quoted the words of Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross: 'O Woman, this is your Son, O disciples, this is your Mother.' He stressed that the fact to be lived by faith is the proclivity to be always with the Lord and to be always close to the Lord."

For his part, Father Coutinho referred to the message that the Lady of Fatima directs to the humans of today, which indicates her affirmation that we are greatly loved by the Lord. He said, "When you receive Virgin Mary, you are like John, the beloved disciple by Lord Jesus. He was the one who received Virgin Mary in his home. Therefore, Virgin Mary affirms that we are like John, namely disciples of Her Son Lord Jesus Christ."

He added: "This is the essence of the message of Our Lady of Fátima. Through Her apparitions, She wanted to affirm that God is not far from us. He is a loving father of all, and we are faithful disciples of Him. Besides the message of joy, there is a message of hope that God does not leave man alone despite sins and obstacles in life, and that God is stronger than all evil and tyranny in this world. "

After the end of the Holy Mass, a festive tour was held in the square of the church in Al-Misdar, attended the believers who were carrying lit candles in their hands, signing Marian hymns, and contemplating the visiting mother.
