Pope Francis accepts resignation of Bishop Maroun Lahham

The Holy See announced on Saturday February 4, 2017 that His Holiness Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of His Excellency Monsignor Maroun Lahham as auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Jerusalem.

According to the Catholic Center for Studies and Media in Jordan, the Vatican official statement reads: “The Holy Father has accepted the resignation of His Excellency Monsignor Maroun Lahham as auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Jerusalem.”

Following this announcement, the Latin Patriarchate thanked Monsignor Lahham for the years he spent in the service of the Church in Jordan and the Holy Land. The statement issued by Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa reads: “The Diocese thanks H. E. Monsignor Maroun for the service he has rendered, accompanies him with prayers, and wishes him well in this new phase of his life.”
