Marking the UAE’s 48th national day, the UAE embassy in Jordan held a reception on Monday, December 2, which was attended by senior Jordanian officials, members of the diplomatic corps as well as political, economic, cultural and media figures in addition to representatives of the civil and international organizations.
During the ceremony, UAE Ambassador to Jordan touched on the UAE's achievements and its distinguished relations with Jordan.
He said: “The UAE citizens celebrate national day on December 2 while witnessing the achievements attained in the past year with further expectations for the next year. Among the most prominent achievements is the proclamation of 2019 as a year of tolerance in a country with people from more than 200 countries live in an atmosphere of openness, mutual respect and common living based on the principle of tolerance. "
He added: “This achievement is corroborated by the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the UAE and his signing with the sheikh of Al-Azhar ‘The Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together’. This step consecrated the UAE's vision to promote a spirit of tolerance in society, to foster a culture of openness and civilized dialogue, to reject intolerance and extremism, as well as to renounce all manifestations of discrimination between people based on religion, gender, race, color, or language."
