The Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) and the CCSM Council of Consultants convey heartfelt wishes and blessings to Fr. Rif’at Bader for obtaining his doctorate degree in political philosophy from the Lebanese University on Tuesday, July 11, with very good rating.

Fr. Bader’s thesis which is titled, “The Philosophy of Jordanian-Vatican Relations/Vision and Facts 1964-2014” sheds light on the Vatican-Jordanian relations. It elucidates the importance of these relations, their common denominators, points of weaknesses, and that the strength in the Vatican-Jordanian relations can be traced back to over 50 years. It also explains the contribution made by these relations to bringing about peace in the Arab region with particular reference to the Palestine question.

The thesis adopts a historical analysis of the Vatican-Jordanian relations, with reference to the repeated papal visits since 1964. The diplomacies of the Vatican and Jordan are also reviewed in detail.

The thesis concludes that the Holy See calls for granting rights to all people without discrimination and that it has neither economic or political interest, nor is it aims to impose its hegemony or monopoly. The thesis also defines the nature of the relations between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Holy See noting that they are two small but active countries in the international community and that they maintain relations extending from the far East to the far West.

The thesis stresses that the Christians in Jordan are citizens who enjoys full citizenship, as do the Muslim citizens, whereby differences of religion and pluralism are protected by the law at a time when Muslims and Christians enjoy distinguished relations.
