At the Salesian Ratisbonne Monastery in Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa presided over the Pentecost Vigil in the presence of numerous religious men and women.
Through Scripture readings proclaimed in many languages, the prayer embodied the day of Pentecost and reflected on the diversity of the Church of Jerusalem, invoking the Holy Spirit upon the Church, the Holy Land, young people, migrants, and all those suffering from war, division, and loss of hope.
In a city marked by separation yet also by the memory of the Upper Room, Cardinal Pizzaballa recalled that Pentecost is God’s answer to Babel: not the erasure of differences, but their transformation into communion. “Uniformity is a prison; unity is a symphony.”
