The Feast of the Resurrection: A turning point in the life of humanity

By Munir Bayouk/ en.abouna.org :

With the advent of spring, Christians annually mark the Feast of the Resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ from the dead (commonly known as Easter). Despite the fact that this divine event took place over 2,000 years ago, it is still celebrated as it marked a turning point in the life of humanity all the time.

Among the most outstanding and common events that has taken place since the emergence of early life of people on Earth is that a time comes when all people who lived on Earth died. The only exception is Lord Jesus Christ, for He not only followed the norm of life on Earth with regards to death which is followed by annihilation, but He was the only person to rise from the dead.

In order to highlight the significance of this event, this takes us back to the time when God ordered Abraham to present his beloved son Isaac as a sacrifice. At the time he was ready to fulfill the will of God, he received a lamb which he slaughtered in lieu of his own son. This lamb was slaughtered instead of his son, consequently his son was saved.

The Holy Bible reflects on the nature of Lord Jesus as stated in John 1:29, "The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world." Consequently, in the same way as a lamb was sent by God to be sacrificed in lieu of Isaac, Lord Jesus--the incarnated Lamb of God--shed His precious blood on the Cross and died. Yet, three days later He rose from the dead to provide a manifestation that He defeated death marked a phenomenon that is totally incomprehensive to human mind.

The question that arises then is, who is Lord Jesus Christ? This very question is being asked repeatedly with some people unable to provide an answer. The answer is found in the Holy Bible, which referrer to Lord Jesus as the Word of God and states in John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the was with God, and the Word was God."

Then the question that arises is, what is significance of the precious blood of Jesus that was shed on the Cross? Actually, the precious blood of Jesus has not dried, it is still wet in the hearts and minds of the faithful, for this blood can be sought and scattered to provide healing and avert impending demonic machinations.

It is to be asserted that the ill can be healed through the blood of Jesus as asserted in the Biblical verse "By His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5) Lord Jesus' sacrifice covers every area of humans' existence, for the stripes He bore and the blood He shed were for the healing of humanity, thus by His stripes we are healed.

Furthermore, protection can be attained through the blood of Jesus as there is authority through the blood of Jesus over all kinds of evil including over the devil as mentioned in the Holy Bible, " And they overcome him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimonies. (Revelation 11:112)

It is important to note in this regards that during Holy Masses celebrated in churches on daily bases, the worshippers acknowledge the death of Lord Jesus Christ on Cross and His rise from the dead to give eternal life to all those who believe in Him.

May the Feast of the Resurrection of Lord Jesus motivate the world masses to divert attention to instilling in their societies an atmosphere of fraternal love, tolerance, and peace in addition to being free from the lust of forcible of acquisition others' properties and wars.
