 Greek Ambassador in Jordan visits AUM, discusses academic cooperation with Greek universities

On Saturday, March 8. 2025, the American University of Madaba (AUM) hosted Greece Ambassador in Jordan Ms. Irene Riga on her second visit to the university. Upon arrival, she was  welcomed by Chairman of the AUM’s Board of Trustees Eng. Azzam Shweihat who expressed appreciation for this visit which reflects the depth of  the mutual academic and cultural relations.

 

AUM President Professor Mamoun Akroush welcomed the visiting ambassador, and presented a detailed overview of the AUM, its vision, goals, and the unique disciplines it offers, noting that the employment rate of university graduates is 95 percent and in some disciples it reaches 100 per cent. He stressed that these distinguished rates are due to the high quality of education that the students receive, in addition to the continuous development of the university's disciplines which are fulfilled by conducting comparisons and studies of international university educational programs so  as to meet the needs of the labor market. He also referred to the AUM’s distinguished optional study abroad program that enables students to pay the same fees that the pay locally.

 

AUM’s President Assistant for Accreditation and Quality Assurance  Eng. Majdi Dayyat shed light on the AUM’s accreditation, disciplines, in addition to obtaining the approval of the Higher Education Commission in the US State of New Hampshire to grant degrees. He also pointed out that the AUM has acquired a nomination for accreditation by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the oldest American academic accreditation institutions, that reflects the quality of the AUM’s academic distinction at the global level.

 

The meeting included a discussion of cooperation between the AUM and the Greek embassy, ​​in addition to a number of Greek universities, to enhance opportunities for academic and cultural exchange.

 

The visit concluded with screening a video film about the AUM which was followed by a tour of the university's facilities and laboratories, where the Greek ambassador and her accompanying delegation were briefed on the academic and technical capabilities that the university provides to its students.
