The American University in Madaba (AUM), represented by its president  Dr. Mamoun Akrosh, participated in the Jordanian Kurdistan Higher Education Forum 2024 which was launched on Sunday, May 5, titled, "Drawing the Future through Sustainable Development" in Erbil.

The forum was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in coordination with the Kurdistan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and the Jordan Tourism Board.

Prime minister of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masrour Barazani said during the opening session of the forum, "The goals of nations and developed societies cannot be attained without a secure and stable environment, as well as without intelligent, scientific and innovative management that keep up with development and consider the future." He added, "Upgrading and advancing educational and academic institutions is a top priority, as we seek to keep universities and academic centers pace with the accelerating modern development, thus contributing to a thriving economic infrastructure."

Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Mamoun Al-Dabai, confirmed the readiness of Jordanian universities to grant students of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, who intend to attend  Jordanian universities, promising arrangements within concluded agreements. On the sidelines of the forum, the Jordanian delegation examined the mechanism of increasing cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research.

At the highlights of the Jordanian Kurdistan Higher Education Forum Erbil - 2024, the AUM, represented by its president Professor Dr. Mamoun Akrosh, signed memoranda of understanding with a number of Kurdistan universities in Erbil Governorate and universities of Sulaymaniyah and Duhok governorates.
