Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa has visited King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman. He was welcomed upon arrival by the center's director, Dr. Asem Mansour. .
Patriarch Pizzaballa was accompanied by Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Bishop Jamal D'aibes, Parish Priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Tla' Al-'Ali-western Amman Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader, a number of priests, nuns, and members of the pastoral council. This visit was organized by the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Tla' Al-Ali as part of Patriarch Pizzaballa's three-day parish visit.
Dr. Mansour briefed Patriarch Pizzaballa on the stages of the development of the center which has been renowned in the field of medicine in the entire world. He added that the center is characterized by placing psychological and social support within the treatment plan of patients. He also praised the prevailing cooperation between the Churches and the center.
During the visit, Patriarch Pizzaballa said, "We are always proud of this Jordanian medical achievement, and God willing, it will continue to proceed to attain further development." He also lauded the efforts designed to care for human beings as a whole, not only in terms of health and medical treatment, because humans need psychological, health and spiritual care.
For his part, Bishop D'aibes said that since he was the pastor of the Latin Church in Wahdneh, he participated in the early 1990s in the campaign that was designed to make donations for building this center. He added that during his work in Palestine, he followed up several people and families who were treated at this center. He also hoped that a new center would be built in Ramallah as it was initially planned.
On the other hand, Fr. Rif'at Bader thanked the center for the kind reception of the clergy, including the priests who come to visit the sick. He said that the medical exemptions obtained by many parishioners are highly appreciated, noting that the Royal Court and the Prime Ministry have facilitated obtaining such exemptions which bring families solace and consolation.
Later, Patriarch Pizzaballa visited a number of patients and anointed them with holy oil. He also prayed for them wishing them a speedy recovery.
