Marking All Souls’ Day, two solemn Masses were celebrated on Sunday, November 2, at the Church of “Mary, Mother of the Church” in Marka, Amman, by parish priest Fr. Imad Twal and concelebrated by Deacon Imad Hijazin. In attendance was a large number of the faithful who prayed in an atmosphere of faith, love, hope, and a profound communion with the Risen Christ.
In his homily, Fr. Twal noted that following the Church's celebration of All Saints' Day, we today commemorate All Souls’ Day. He highlighted the importance of this celebration in which we remember the loved ones who have gone before them to eternal life, and stressed the necessity of praying for those who passed away so that God would overwhelm them with His mercy and grant them eternal rest.
He added that the month of October ended, which was dedicated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, and that the parish will dedicate this new month to praying for the departed souls, especially the forgotten ones. He invited the faithful to pray daily for the deceased, whether a family member, a loved one, or neighbors.
He accentuated in his homily the necessity of remaining steadfast in hope, so that the believers would not allow grief to overwhelm them since we are children of the Resurrection and the children of hope. He concluded his homily by offering a prayer pleading with the Lord to grant eternal rest to all the souls of the departed, to comfort their families, as well as strengthen their faith and hope in the Resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ.
