Bethlehem University has announced the signing of a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pro Terra Sancta Association, marking the beginning of an innovative partnership to establish the first official Socio-Cultural Animator training program in Palestine.

The MoU was officially signed on campus on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, by Professor Iman Saca, Vice President for Academic Affairs, on behalf of Bethlehem University, and Mr. Paolo Ferrari, Office Manager of Pro Terra Sancta.  The signing was also in the presence of Mr. Elias Juha, Director of the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism, and Dr. Omar Abed Rabbo, Chairman of the Department of Humanities at Bethlehem University.

This agreement is part of the “Educational Integration Paths for Social and Cultural Development in Palestine” project, and reflects Bethlehem University’s mission to advance community development, youth empowerment, and academic excellence.

The program is designed to equip young graduates in the Bethlehem area with the practical and theoretical knowledge required to thrive in the field of socio-cultural animation. Through a collaborative curriculum, participants will engage in specialized training modules covering social engagement, cultural heritage, and community development. Selected participants will come from the University’s Master’s in Tourism Studies and Bachelor’s in Cultural Heritage and Archaeology programs.

This initiative offers students not only a new academic opportunity but also hands-on professional experience. Six deserving participants will receive fully funded six-month internships at museums and cultural institutions throughout the region, providing valuable exposure to real-world work environments and deepening their impact on Palestinian society.

As part of the agreement, Pro Terra Sancta will also support the continued development of Bethlehem University’s Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Program. This generous support underscores the shared vision of both institutions to preserve Palestinian cultural identity and empower local communities through education.

Bethlehem University remains steadfast in its commitment to creating transformative educational experiences that bridge academic learning with societal needs. This partnership exemplifies the university’s role as a catalyst for sustainable development, reinforcing its dedication to preparing students to become leaders in service of their communities.
