As part of its endeavor to alleviate the suffering of the people living in the Gaza Strip in light of the military operations that erupted there over the past 15 months, Caritas Jordan has taken a significant step to enhance healthcare services for populations affected by humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
In this context, Caritas Jordan Director Mr. Wael Suleiman and Director General of Taawon (Welfare Association) Dr. Tareq Emtairah, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the clinics in the region.
The MoU seeks to provide tangible support to improve access to healthcare in Gaza by providing hospitals and mobile health centers with medical equipment and essential supplies. Additionally, it aims to secure the necessary funding to ensure the initiative’s ongoing effectiveness.
This collaboration comes at a critical time as Gaza faces severe humanitarian and health challenges that block residents’ access to essential medical services. The initiative will work to enhance the quality of healthcare provided to residents in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
Through this partnership, Caritas Jordan and the Taawon aim to deliver comprehensive healthcare services to those affected, thus contributing to alleviating their suffering and improving their overall health conditions.
It is worthwhile to note that in a step that reflects the firm commitment to humanitarian work, to achieving a mission in support of those in need, as well as to providing assistance in difficult circumstances, an agreement was earlier signed by JHCO Secretary General Dr. Hussein Al-Shibli, Caritas Jordan Director Wa’el Suleiman, and Catholic Relief Services represented by Jason Knapp which provides for cooperation and an understanding to jointly transfer urgently needed aid to the people in the Gaza Strip who face challenges resulting from the war. This humanitarian work is carried out by the JHCO with the support from the Catholic Relief Services, while Caritas Jordan provides needed support which includes in-kind relief materials and humanitarian aid which will be delivered through the charitable organization.
This role played by Caritas Jordan confirms it mission and role in supporting the poor and the needy, as well as in enhancing the personal capabilities of needy groups which includes providing primary medical services, maternal, and child services
Caritas Jordan has all the time played a pivotal and vital role by providing all kinds of humanitarian services to the needy as well as refugees who lost all hope in life, whereas its role is not called assistance but rather acts confirming humans’ legitimate rights of living in peace and harmony regardless of their race, color, gender or religion.
