Representatives of radio stations from all over Chili took part in a virtual meeting of the Catholic Broadcasting Association (ARCA) in Chile on May 24. The focus was on the current situation of church radio stations in today's life. The directors of the broadcasters confirmed the difficult financial situation after the economic crisis as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many of these broadcasters live off the advertising revenues of local companies, which have plummeted as a result of the pandemic. Thanks to prudent financial management, some associated broadcasters have nevertheless managed to retain their work teams and avoid massive layoffs, while others have been forced to reduce working hours in order to maintain programs and not have to lay off employees. 

The aim of the Association of Catholic Broadcasting in Chile is the promotion of community and cooperation in networks as well as the provision of educational offers for better communication and thus more fruitful evangelization. ARCA currently unites more than 33 associated Catholic radios with a presence in the 13 regions of the country and a large number of digital radios on the Internet.

Radio stations are the preferred means of communication in the Andean region across Latin America and particularly in Chile. Since the advent of the internet, which is mainly used by the new generations, radio has also changed in Chile in order to ensure its presence in the digital world as well.
