On August 11, 2025, Pope Leo XIV appointed Rev. Ignatius Wu Jianlin as Auxiliary Bishop of Shanghai (Municipality of Shanghai, China), having approved his candidacy within the framework of the Provisional Agreement between the Holy See and the People’s Republic of China.
Curriculum Vitae
Bishop Ignatius Wu Jianlin was born on January 27, 1970. From 1991 to 1996, he studied philosophy and theology at Sheshan Seminary in the Diocese of Shanghai.
He was ordained a priest on November 22, 1997, and assigned as Spiritual Director of the same seminary and Assistant Pastor of Zhongshan Parish.
From 1999 to 2012, he served as Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese and Pastor of Qiujiawan.
From 2013 to 2023, he contributed to the administration of the diocese during the period of vacancy, and subsequently held the office of Vicar General.
