The sessions of the conference “The Church in the Middle East: Deep-rooted in Grace”, convening in, Nicosia, resumed its sessions on Thursday, April 21, 2023 by celebrating Holy Mass presided by Chaldean Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako according to the Chaldean rite.

This day included three sessions. The first session dealt with the issue of Christian upbringing, presented by Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia Bishop Paolo Martinelli.  In the second session, Professor Yousef Al-Hajj gave a presentation titled, "From the Era of ISIS to the Era of Human Fraternity", while Dr. Viola Al-Raheb gave a presentation on "Freedom and Rights: Between Affirmations, Aspirations, and Practices".

In the afternoon, the participants were divided into 10 working and dialogue groups designed to exchange views on the issues that were discussed by the three lecturers in the morning. This covered major topics, namely Christian upbringing, religious dialogue, citizenship, and religious freedom which were the main issues dealt with by the Apostolic Exhortation 10 years ago. Each panel discussion included a chairperson chosen from the Catholic patriarchs of the East, a moderator chosen from the bishops, and a rapporteur chosen from the monastic or lay organizations.
