Gulf Churches Fellowship condemns the attack in Karak Governorate

avosa.org :

Following is the statement issued by the Gulf Churches Fellowship (GCF), the ecumenical body bringing together Christian Churches in the Gulf region:

“Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)

We firmly believe that life is a sacred gift from God, entrusted to us as stewards of His divine blessing. No matter how often evil may appear to prevail in the struggles of life, life itself will always triumph.

With profound sorrow, deep anguish, and the strongest condemnation, the Gulf Churches Fellowship (GCF) denounces the horrific shooting targeting mourners in Jordan. We affirm that this heinous act of terrorism constitutes a grave violation of human dignity, the sanctity of life, and the sacredness of mourning.

Targeting mourners in moments of grief and sorrow is a blatant assault on human and moral values and a desperate attempt to spread fear and division within society.

As believers in the Giver of Life, who conquered death and rose from the dead, we firmly reject every ideology that uses death as a means of imposing beliefs or spreading terror. Instead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to a culture of life, love, and peace.

Confronting such crimes is a shared national and moral responsibility. It calls for the unity of all citizens of Jordan, across every community, faith, and background, standing together against terrorism, violence, and hatred.

The Gulf Churches Fellowship extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. We lift our prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, the healing of the injured, and comfort for all who mourn.

We pray that the Risen Lord will protect our nations, especially Jordan and its people, and that the country’s national unity will remain a strong and unshakable fortress against all who seek to threaten life and peace.

Our faith in Christ, who rose from the dead, gives us a hope that violence cannot extinguish, a love that persecution cannot defeat, and an unwavering determination to build a culture of life and confront evil with truth and justice.

Together, we stand united against everything that threatens human dignity, the sanctity of life, and the peace of our communities.
