Bethlehem University is proud to announce its outstanding international recognition at the Uniservitate Awards 2026: Service-Learning Experiences in Catholic Higher Education.
Two faculty-led service-learning projects received prestigious international awards, highlighting the university’s commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and social responsibility.
The Regional First Prize for the Central and Eastern Europe and Middle East region was awarded to Mr. Layth R. Awwad from the English Department for his project, Communicating for Change: Breaking the Silence on the Hidden Realities of Abandoned Children at the Holy Family Children’s Home in Palestine.
A Special Mention Award was presented to Mr. Ramzi Assali, Ms. Maram Daboub (English Department), and Ms. Sabah Ikmayes (Education Department) for their project, Rising from the Rubble: A Dignified Journey of Recovery for People with War-Related Disabilities in Gaza.
These achievements reflect the dedication, innovation, and commitment of Bethlehem University faculty to meaningful service-learning that enriches student learning while addressing real community needs. Their collective efforts continue to strengthen Bethlehem University’s culture of engagement, excellence, and service and exemplifies the University’s mission of preparing graduates who lead through knowledge, service, and compassion while creating lasting positive impact in their communities.
