Under the patronage of Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal, the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS) and Caritas Jordan marked the World Refugee Day titled, "Together in Solidarity: We Celebrate Creativity and Human Dignity" on June 27, 2026. In attendance were representatives of institutions, supporting organizations, humanitarian agencies, in addition to religious and official dignitaries.
The event highlighted the importance of this anniversary with regards to promoting the values of human solidarity, raising awareness of refugee issues, and highlighting the valuable contributions and creativity of refugees in their host communities. The participants commended Jordan's continued humanitarian commitment to hosting refugees under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein Ibn Abdullah II.
The event featured an address by Bishop Iyad Twal titled, "The Role of National Institutions in Supporting Refugees," during which he discussed the responsibility of national institutions in assisting refugees, as well as enhancing the values of solidarity and compassion.
Furthermore, Director of RIIFS Dr. Taghreed Odeh, delivered an address titled, "Refugees at the Heart of Our Shared Human Values." During which she emphasized the importance of fostering common living, enhancing solidarity, and promoting a culture that upholds human dignity.
The event also included an address by Mr. Michael Dell’Amico deputy representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Jordan, who provided an overview of the global refugee situation. This was followed by a video film highlighting the realities faced by refugees and the services available to them in Jordan.
On the other hand, Caritas Jordan presented a video showcasing its key services and programs in support of refugees and vulnerable families across the Kingdom.
The event also featured an artistic performance as part of the "Music for Peace" project. At the conclusion of the event, several individuals were honored and presented with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to supporting refugees and advancing the values of human solidarity.
This event reaffirms Caritas Jordan's commitment to the core values and principles of Caritas mission, which is based on solidarity, fraternity, and human dignity.
