Accompanied by Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal, Archbishop Alberto Torriani of Crotone “Santa Severina” in Italy, along with a number of priests, paid a visit to Caritas Center in Ashrafieh, eastern Amman, on Tuesday, July 7.
Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Caritas Jordan Acting Executive Director Mr. Omar Abawi together with the center's members of staff. During the visit, Archbishop Alberto Torriani toured the center's facilities and was introduced to the wide range of services provided to members of the local community and refugees. The visiting delegation also received an overview of the programs and activities implemented by the Mental Health and Protection Unit and visited the rooms dedicated to counselling, psychosocial support, and listening sessions for people of all ages.
During the visit, Archbishop Alberto Torriani commended the commitment and dedication of the staff in serving the most vulnerable groups, and highlighted their valuable contribution to advancing the humanitarian mission of Caritas Jordan.
The Ashrafieh Center is a specialized facility that provides mental health, psychosocial support, and protection services to members of the local community and refugees of all ages. Its services include individual, group, and family counselling sessions, as well as cash assistance for eligible protection cases. The center also implements psychosocial activities for children and adolescents through Child-Friendly Spaces and Safe Spaces for Youth, as well as helps strengthen their psychosocial well-being and empowers them within a safe and supportive environment.
