Jordan: Bishop Twal confers Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation to students in Amman
By Munir Bayouk/ en.abouna.org :

On Saturday, May 24, the eve of the 6th Sunday of Easter, the Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation were conferred to 32 parish students during a solemn Mass presided by Latin patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal at Mary Mother of Church in Northern Marka, Amman. The Holy Mass was concelebrated by parish priest Fr. Khalil Ja'ar and attended by a large gathering of parents of the students as well as a large number of people.

In an atmosphere of prayer and joy, the students dressed in white advanced to the altar of the Lord to receive the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily, Bishop Twal addressed the parents explaining the importance of the Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation in their lives. He also urged them to take their children to church and to always attain a sound Christian upbringing as this is the noble model to be emulated by children.

Later, the children received Holy Communion for the first time in their lives, amidst the sounds of hymns, and the prayers of their parents and the faithful. During the Holy Mass, the students offered prayers for Pope Leo XIV, seeking divine support for him in leading the Catholic Church, for the clergy, and for Bishop Twal, to help him in his episcopal duties. The faithful also offered prayers for Jordan on the eve of Independence Day, asking God to protect the land of the Holy Baptism under its wise Hashemite leadership as well as to perpetuate the blessings of security and peace.

It is worth noting that the children have been taught the sacramental curriculum for this occasion since the beginning of the school year. Rosary Sister  Cecile Hijazin oversaw the students' preparation for this special spiritual day for an entire year, ensuring that they are prepared to receive these holy sacraments.
