On Sunday, June 1, 2025, a Royal Decree was issued, as published in the Official Gazette of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, appointing His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Advisor to His Majesty the King for Religious and Cultural Affairs and His Majesty’s Personal Envoy, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baptism Site Commission.

The Royal Decree also included the appointment of the following members to the Board, as a part of the ongoing efforts to support and develop the Baptism Site (Al-Maghtas), which is considered one of the most significant religious and archaeological sites in the Hashemite Kingdom and the world: 

1. The Minister of Water and Irrigation

2. The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities

3. The Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs

4. Dr. Ahmad Al-Zoubi

5. The Director of Public Security

6. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing

7. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture

8. The Secretary General of the Jordan Valley Authority

9. The Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board

10. The Director of the Department of Antiquities

11. Msgr. Iyad Twal, Latin Bishop in Amman

12. Greek Orthodox Bishop in Amman

13. His Eminence Bishop Atallah Hanna

14. Fr. Samer Azar, Representative of the Lutheran Church

15. Mr. Basem Khalil Al-Salem
