Marking the World Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking--observed annually on February 8--the Pro Terra Sancta Jordan, in cooperation with the Ambassadors of Hope in Jordan, held a three-day spiritual and heritage-focused program. The initiative brought together education, art, and spiritual reflection, while reaffirming the Church’s commitment to defending human dignity and promoting a culture of hope within society.
The program was part of the ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking, and to highlight the role of faith and collective action in protecting people and expressing solidarity with those who suffer.
In attendance were ambassadors of hope, namely a group of young people who receive specialized training which enables them to support survivors of human trafficking by instilling hope as well as offering psychological and social support. It is worthy to note that the ambassadors of hope are part of the Springs of Hope initiative – Jordan initiative, which stems from the global Talitha Kum network based in Rome and operates under the supervision of the Union of Religious Congregations.
The three-day program’s activities covered distinct educational, human, and spiritual dimensions. On the first day, the participants explored Jordan’s heritage in its three forms, namely tangible, intangible, and natural. The second day featured a hands-on artistic experience, during which students created an artwork using stones, symbolizing their deep connection to land and heritage. The program concluded on the third day at Mount Nebo, where a closing activity combined spiritual meditation with an encounter with the sacred history of the land where the Prophet Moses once stood.
