July, the month dedicated to the precious Blood of Lord Jesus Christ

By Munir Bayouk/ en.abouna.org :

July is the month that marks the greatest ever anniversary in the world. It is the precious Blood of Lord Jesus Christ. It is a dear anniversary because it documents what is mostly dear to the heart of the believers, namely the precious blood of Lord Jesus Christ--which became a universal feast in the 19th century--that was shed over 2,000 years ago to cleanse the world from sins, to wash away evil and grudge from the hearts of peoples, and provide assurances to believers that the Kingdom of God is at hand.

This is one of the particular devotions in the Catholic Church connected to the Passion of Jesus Christ. It is honoring His Precious Blood and admission that Lord Jesus spilled his blood for the salvation of humanity. Believers share the precious blood of Lord Jesus on daily bases through the gift of the Eucharist that people consume at Holy Mass.

Why does the Church mark the Feast of the precious Blood of Lord Jesus Christ?

It is reported that during the First Italian War for Independence in 1849, Pope Pius IX went into exile to Gaeta with Don Giovanni Merlini, the third superior general of the Fathers of the Most Precious Blood. While the war was still raging, Merlini suggested to Pope Pius IX that he create a universal feast to the Precious Blood to beg God's heavenly aid to end the war and bring peace to Rome. Pius IX subsequently made a statement on June 30, 1849 that he intended to create a feast in honor of the Precious Blood. The war soon ended and he returned to Rome shortly thereafter. It was later announced that the first Sunday of July would be dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Later, Pope Pius X assigned July 1 as the fixed date of this celebration.

It is important to admit that blood of Christ is the foundation for Christian faith. This is accentuated in the Biblical verse, "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:7) This verse indicates that Christians are redeemed from sin through the sacrifice of Lord Jesus' blood, resulting in forgiveness of their sins. This forgiveness is made possible by God's abundant grace.

The healing power of the precious blood of Lord Jesus

What is referred to as the "healing power of the blood of Jesus" is a central tenet in Christian faith. It affirms the belief that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, namely His shed blood, provides spiritual, emotional, and even physical healing. This belief is rooted in the idea that through faith in Jesus' sacrifice, believers can be cleansed from sin, experience emotional restoration, and be healed from sickness and disease. The blood of Lord Jesus shed on the Cross saves all those who believe in Him and gives them eternal life. This blood has so incredible valuable to the point that there is nothing in the world that has a perpetual effect on people as the Holy Blood of Jesus does. This blood is a testimony that salvation is available and that eternal life with the Savior is never denied. It is a fact no one can deny this reality.

The blood of Jesus does not dry. It is still wet on the Cross and can provide uncountable blessings to the believers, including nonpareil healing powers. Furthermore, this blood provides protection from all sources of evil. It is really of prominent importance to indicate that the blood of Lord Jesus has authority over devil. The Holy Bible says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” (Revelation 12:11) In other words, the believers have authority by the blood of Jesus to nullify any evil that stands in the way. This blood is powerful enough to remove all evidence of the curse in one's life. The blood that Jesus shed for us has enormous, great power, and it is important through the precious blood of Jesus, we are victorious as “Jesus is the Lord!”

In July and throughout the days, let us seek the blood of Lord Jesus that was shed on the Cross for the salvation of humanity in order to overcome disease and orchestrated evil.
