As part of the Bible Society of Jordan's (BSJ) Independence Day celebrations, the BSJ has launched an initiative to present wheelchairs to a group of children and youths with mobile disabilities. The initiative included Jordan Valley areas of Al-Mazra'a and Al-Haditha in the first stage, while the initiative will cover other areas in the next stage.
The initiative also included visiting a number of homes and delivering special packages for newborns in the framework of BSJ's endeavor to convey care to those mostly in need.
The beneficiary families expressed their deep gratitude, noting that these wheelchairs are appropriate for their children, which meets a pressing need and helped them with their mobility, especially in light of the difficult financial circumstances that make purchasing new wheelchairs a major challenge for several families.
In attendance were the Jordan Valley Chairman of the Ghor and Al-Mazra'a Municipal Committee Mr. Abdul Hamid Ma'aytah, and Chairman of the National Society for Community Rehabilitation Mr. Fathi Hwaimel who expressed their appreciation for this cordial and humanitarian initiative, which manifests the spirit of benevolence on this noble national anniversary.
For his part, JBS official responsible for the initiative at JBS Lutfi Al-As'ad pointed out that this step is part of the BSJ's plans marking Independence Day which is reflection of the Biblical verse, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so." (Proverbs 3:27)
