Amidst the deteriorating living conditions in the East, the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) has launched a new appeal in order to maintain the humanitarian and residency needs to directly affected Syrian and Iraqi refugees as well as host communities in Jordan.

In addition, the appeal seeks to reduce the vulnerability of people that are affected by negative economic and resiliency impact of the evolving of COVID-19 in these refugee and host communities, especially in Northern Badia, Amman, Ashrafyia and East of Amman, and Al-Balaka Governate villages.

The appeal aims to increase support to many in need families to meet their basic needs of hygiene and food by providing them with health care kits and food rations, as well as providing winter clothing to vulnerable children, preserving their safety and wellbeing through different modalities.

Through this appeal, MECC works to achieve many other outcomes in Jordan such as insuring adequate and timely access to health care support to cancer patients, supporting coping mechanisms to affected women through providing them with upgraded vocational training, contributing to keep children in school through tuition support fees and provision of school kits/vouchers, and complementing and enhancing awareness and knowledge of basic health practices among women and communities at risk.
