Two years ago, at the Paris Olympics, we said that the group was secular, unaware of religious affairs, and that they wanted to highlight the contemporary and modern image of France. This was followed by an apology issued by the Olympic Committee for insulting Leonardo da Vinci's painting of the Lord's Last Supper.
Yet, this time it was bitter and completely unacceptable as it emerged from the Holy Land where the Last Supper took place, as this is not confined to the painting of the Last Supper but relevant to the event itself, namely the meeting of Lord Jesus Christ with His disciples before his passion, crucifixion, and resurrection, in the heart of Jerusalem which hosted the events of salvation.
What has been recently posted--which is deliberate and a totally inappropriate distortion of the Last Supper and consequently a sacred Christian religious symbol in the land of holiness--is not logical, as being neither acceptable nor innocent. Are there machinations from a third party seeking to add fuel to the fire between Muslims and Christians in the land of holiness where prayers and suffering are common to eliminate the heavy cross of occupation laid on the shoulders of all of Palestine and all its people?
We call on those with enlightened minds--who fear for the future of their country, for the historical reputation of Palestine, and for the good relations among the people of the extended nation--to exercise extreme caution, handle the matter with prudence and wisdom, and strive to scuttle any attempt designed to drive a wedge between the people of one nation, who long for days abounding with justice, peace, and independence.
Many thanks are conveyed to all the statements condemning the affront to religions specifically to Christianity in this regard, particularly the statement issued by the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, which includes the company mentioned on the offensive poster, that threw the ball into the advertising company's court. Frankly speaking, the matter is "beyond comprehension." How can a well-versed commercial company, with a contract in place with an advertising company, be surprised by the publication including its name on a poster insulting religions, without knowing? Is this a new "Da Vinci Code" that holds mysteries about the source of the image?

Many thanks are conveyed to the sagacious people of our time, who will take the initiative to uncover the truth and force the programmer of this image--which we apologize for not posting due to its clear and explicit insult to the person of Lord Jesus Christ and His disciples—to apologize and to publicly offer a national and historical "remorse" to preserve the sanctity of the land where the events of the Last Supper took place, and to preserve the aspiration of the Palestinian people for liberation which can only be attained through national unity, which is dear to the hearts of people who have presented martyrs at a time when blood is still shed for justice and peace.
Lastly, O dear Palestinian people--we are in the midst of Pentecost and the descent of the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem that firmly united the world at that time. We are also marking Eid al-Adha, when eyes are directed toward prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque--block the opportunity in the face of anyone who wants to offend any religious symbol, and consequently do not let anyone rejoice in schism and in the creation of sedition among you.
