Patriarch al-Rai celebrates Holy Mass marking the silver jubilee of the Maronite parish in Jordan

On Friday, May 26, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutrous al-Rai celebrated Holy Mass at Saint Charbel Church, Airport Road, in Jordan, marking the 25th anniversary of the Maronite parish in Jordan and the silver jubilee of the priestly ordination of Fr. Joseph Sweid.

 

The  Holy Mass was concelebrated by Patriarchal Vicar for the Maronites in the Holy Land Bishop Musa Al-Hajj, Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Jamal D'aibes, Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan Bishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso, and a number of priests from various churches.

 

At the end of the Holy Mass, Patriarch al-Rai honored 25 people who presented services to the Maronite Church.

 

Later, Patriarch al-Rai signed a book written by Fr. Joseph Sweid titled, "With My Own Words" during a ceremony attended by Minister of Culture Haifa Najjar, Patriarchal Vicar for the Maronites in the Holy Land Bishop Musa Al-Hajj, Acting Charge d'Affaires of the Lebanese embassy Ambassador Yousef Rajji, and a number of people.

 

As part of his pastoral visit to Jordan, Patriarch Al-Rahi visited the Church and the Visitation House of the Order of the Holy Rosary. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Regional Director of the Rosary Sisters Madeleine Dababneh, Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan Bishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso, Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media in Jordan Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader, and Acting Charge d'Affaires of the Lebanese embassy Ambassador Yousef Rajji.

 

Then, Patriarch Al-Rai held a prayer titled, "The Service of the Word" at the Church of the Visitation, with Patriarchal Vicar for the Maronites in the Holy Land Bishop Musa Al-Hajj,  and Fr. Joseph Sweid in the presence of a number of ministers, Fuheis Mayor Omar Akroush, as well as a number of members of the Lower House of Parliament and dignitaries.
