“Today we are gathered and called to inaugurate these new offices of Radio Maria and to pray to God for the beautiful mission of this station,” said Rev. Lazaro Nuñez, of the parish of St. Martin of Tours in the diocese of Brooklyn, who presided over the Holy Mass, concelebrated with Rev. Abelardo Cobos, of the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the diocese of Houston, Texas; Rev. Silvio Ortiz, vicar of the parish of St. Agatha in the diocese of Brooklyn and Rev. Father Tarcisio Andro, of the Basilica Regina Pacis in the diocese of Brooklyn, national director of Radio Maria Italia in the United States.
Vittorio Viccardi, president of the World Family of Radio Maria, expressed his gratitude to all the guests and volunteers who have accompanied the radio in New York over the past 24 years, since its foundation in 2001. “It is a heartfelt thank you to all listeners and volunteers, thanks to whom we can broadcast Radio Maria. Without our volunteers, Radio Maria is nothing. I invite you to work in One Radio, One Mission as the representatives of Radio Maria English, Spanish and Italian who are gathered here,” Viccardi said before the end of the Eucharist.
Also present at the inauguration were Alicia Del Cid, Vice President of the World Family and Carlo DiMaggio, President of Radio Maria English.
During the blessing of the studios, presided by Rev. Abelardo Cobos, words were spoken of thanks and prayer for the new facilities and volunteers and donors were thanked for their generosity that made these new projects possible and for their vital support in bringing the message of hope and faith to every Hispanic home in the United States. Afterwards, the ribbon of the new offices was cut and those present were invited to visit the new facilities and share a toast. Finally, all listeners and supporters of Radio Maria who were unable to attend were invited to visit the studio and learn about its mission first hand.
