On Thursday, February 18, the functionaries of "the Fellowship Program on Dialogue Journalism", organized by King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KICIID), opened its sessions in Tunis.
A panel discussion was held and titled, "The Role of Media in Building Peace and Strengthening Dialogue among Followers of Religions and Cultures". Religious leaders, media people, and experts in enhancing dialogue and the journalism of peace in the Arab countries addressed the conference.
Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in Jordan Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader addressed the panel discussion in addition to others.
The session discussed the role of media, in its capacity as one of the basic and necessary forces for any comprehensive and integrated plan, in building peace and enhancing social cohesion in the Arab region. It also shed light on the importance of journalism dedicated to dialogue in building a new concept based on abandoning biased reporting, and focusing on the common good of societies in news reporting.
