Amman: The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus marked at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, June 16

By Munir Bayouk/en.abouna.org :

On Sunday, June 16, 2024 a celebration took place at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Tla' Al-'Ali, during which a Holy Mass was celebrated by parish priest Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader. The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Ala' Ba’ir and Fr. Wajdi Twal in the presence of a large number of believers.

In his homily, Fr. Bader pointed out that the readings from the Holy Bible take us back to Good Friday, when Lord Jesus’ side was stabbed with a spear whereby blood and water gushed out to clean the entire humanity. Thanking the Lord for this beautiful and endless gift, he pointed out that when Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, he did not take anything with him to the Kingdom, except for five precious jewels, namely the wounds on his hands, feet, and side, which are a sign of the Father’s love for humanity. He said: “Blessed are those who worship Jesus’ wounds, and blessed are the churches that bear the name of these wounds, especially the churches that bear the name of the Heart of Jesus, the stabbed and loving heart, which is a sign of His love for all of us."

He pointed out that the Catholic Church marks this year "the Year of Prayer", in preparation for the Jubilee of the year 2025 jubilee with reference to the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. As for the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tla' Al-'Ali, it is a special year of prayer in preparation for celebrating the silver jubilee of the church’s construction and inauguration in 2000.  He continued that it was the first church bearing the name of the Heart of Jesus in this spot in the beloved capital, Amman, that is why we call it, "the Church of the Heart in the heart of Amman".

Fr. Rif'at Bader thanked the Lord for all the efforts exerted as well as the apostolic and pastoral work accomplished over the course of 24 years, with reference to the noble Imsih family that built this church. Referring to some of the renovation projects under way in the church, he addressed the various pastoral activities conducted by various functionaries.

During the Holy Mass, parish priest Fr. Rif'at Bader administered the Sacrament of the first Communion and Confirmation to Christina Sa'id Zawaideh.
