en.abouna.org :

With the blessing of Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal, the Latin Vicariate signed a cooperation agreement with Izzat Marji Group (IMG) on Tuesday April 7, 2026, aimed at installing an integrated solar energy system at the Church of the Baptism of Jesus Christ, one of Jordan's most prominent religious and touristic sites.

The agreement was signed by Engineer Fadi Izzat Marji, in addition to Dr. Mohannad Khouri, the Vicariate's financial and administrative director, and Father Andrzej Nowakowski of the religious community serving the site. In  attendance were Engineer Osama Mdanat, Engineer Farah Qaqish, Ms. Razan Makhamarah, Mr. Anton Hanna, and Secretary General of the Vicariate Fr. Imad Alamat.

This agreement  falls within the framework of the ongoing partnership between the Latin Vicariate and various stakeholders to develop and preserve the site, in line with the vision of sustainability and the adoption of clean energy projects. This step reflects the Church's commitment to preserve the environment and reduce emissions, as well as strengthen its pioneering role in supporting national renewable energy initiatives.

For its part, IMG expressed pride in contributing to a project that conveys a spiritual and cultural significance as well as embodies the collaboration between religious institutions and the private sector in the service of the community.

The project is expected to contribute to reducing operating costs and to provide a sustainable energy source that preserves the sanctity of the site, and serves as a model to be emulated in integrating spiritual heritage with environmental innovation.
