On Saturday January 11, 2025, Caritas Jordan’s headquarters hosted an important visit by Holy See Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin who was accompanied by Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan Bishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso. They were warmly welcomed by Caritas Jordan’s Director Mr. Wa'el Suleiman, administrative members of staff, Regional Coordinator of Caritas MONA Mr. Karam Abi Yazbek, and Operations Manager Mr. Elias Qraitim.

At the outset of the visit, Mr. Wa'el Suleiman extended a warm welcome to Cardinal Parolin, while expressing gratitude for the visit and emphasizing its significant role in strengthening the ties between Caritas Jordan and the Holy See. While conveying his deep appreciation for this kind gesture from His Holiness Pope Francis, Mr. Suleiman reaffirmed that the Cardinal's visit reflects the Vatican's profound interest and ongoing support for the humanitarian projects being implemented by Caritas in Jordan and the entire region.

A video was then screened, showcasing the work of Caritas Jordan over the past ten years. The video highlights the considerable efforts Caritas has exerted in providing humanitarian aid and support to various needy groups, including refugees and the impoverished in the Kingdom, through a wide range of developmental and relief programs, and projects.

Later, Mr. Karam presented a detailed overview of Caritas' work in the Middle East, outlining the significant challenges faced by the organization in the region, and how it reacted to various humanitarian crises.

At the end of the visit, Mr. Elias gave a presentation on the humanitarian aid that Caritas recently provided to the Gaza Strip, in collaboration between Caritas and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization. He emphasized the ongoing cooperation and joint efforts to provide assistance to those in need amidst the difficult circumstances faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.

This visit represents an important step in strengthening the collaboration between Caritas Jordan and the Vatican, while affirming common ongoing commitment to serving humanity and providing support to the most vulnerable communities in the region.
