Caritas Jerusalem delivers 10,000 cans of infant formula to Gaza following end of the war

Following the official announcement of the end of the war in Gaza, Caritas Jerusalem was among the first humanitarian organizations to respond, acting swiftly to meet the urgent needs of families and children across the Strip.

Within days of the ceasefire, Caritas Jerusalem mobilized its medical teams in Gaza to deliver 10,000 cans of infant formula to families with newborns and young children who had been deprived of basic nutrition throughout the months of conflict. The distribution was carried out through Caritas’ network of medical points across Gaza, ensuring that aid reached the most vulnerable communities swiftly and safely.

For months, the war and blockade had severely restricted access to essential supplies, leaving thousands of infants malnourished and mothers struggling to feed their children. The immediate provision of formula milk was therefore a critical life-saving intervention, restoring hope and stability to families who had endured unimaginable hardship.

“This action reflects our mission and commitment to human dignity,” said Anton Asfar, Secretary General of Caritas Jerusalem. “From the very first day after the war, our teams have been working tirelessly to support the people of Gaza — especially the most fragile: children, mothers, and the elderly. Delivering infant formula was not only about food, but about restoring life and hope.”

Caritas Jerusalem’s medical teams continue to operate in southern Gaza, providing primary health care, psychosocial support, and emergency aid to displaced and affected families. The organization remains in close coordination with local health institutions and church partners to ensure the sustained flow of humanitarian assistance through safe and accessible corridors.

As Gaza begins the long process of recovery, Caritas Jerusalem reaffirms its unwavering commitment to stand with its people — bringing compassion, healing, and hope to those most in need.
