Caritas Jerusalem is proud to share that our Secretary General Mr. Anton Asfar, recently visited Caritas Spain and the AECID: Humanitarian Aid Office, where he presented the ongoing humanitarian and development projects jointly implemented by Caritas Jerusalem and AECID.
During his visit, Mr. Anton highlighted the Humanitarian Assistance for People Displaced by the Gaza Conflict project. This initiative focuses on providing urgent medical care and economic support to vulnerable families in Gaza. Through this project, Caritas Jerusalem is expanding access to primary healthcare services, ensuring that critical medicines and medical supplies reach those in need, and supporting displaced families with financial assistance to help them meet their basic needs. The dedicated team working on this initiative continues to provide essential health services, including chronic disease management, medical consultations, and referrals for specialized care, while also promoting awareness of health and nutrition among affected communities.
In addition to the humanitarian response in Gaza, Caritas Jerusalem and AECID are also working together on a development project in Bethlehem that promotes socio-economic growth and sustainability in the region. This initiative focuses on strengthening small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises, rehabilitating farmlands, and enhancing agricultural production in several villages. By supporting farmers and herders, the project contributes to improving local food production and creating economic opportunities for families. Alongside agriculture, efforts are being made to foster entrepreneurship by supporting innovative small businesses and offering technical training programs in various fields such as hospitality, digital skills, and vocational trades. These initiatives aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to enter the labor market and establish sustainable livelihoods.
Through these joint efforts with Caritas Spain and AECID, Caritas Jerusalem remains committed to providing humanitarian relief and long-term development solutions for Palestinian communities. These interventions are co-funded by Caritas Spain, further strengthening our ability to deliver essential support and sustainable initiatives. We deeply value these partnerships, which enable us to continue our mission of supporting those in need and building a stronger, more resilient future.
