Caritas Jordan, JHCO sign cooperation agreement to transfer aid to the people in Gaza Strip
Caritas Jordan has all the time played a pivotal and vital role by providing all kinds of humanitarian services to needy Jordanians as well as refugees who lost all hope in life, whereas its role is not called assistance but rather acts confirming humans’ legitimate rights of living in peace and harmony regardless of their race, color, gender or religion.

In a step that reflects the firm commitment to humanitarian work, to achieving a mission in support of those in need, as well as to providing assistance in difficult circumstances, Caritas Jordan and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) signed an agreement on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

The agreement was signed by JHCO Secretary General Dr. Hussein Al-Shibli, Caritas Jordan Director Wa’el Suleiman, and Catholic Relief Services represented by Jason Knapp.

The agreement provides for cooperation and an understanding to jointly transfer urgently needed aid to the people in the Gaza Strip who face challenges resulting from the wars, at a time when they urgently need to receive aid such as food, water, medicine, and other basic supplies. This humanitarian work is carried out by the JHCO with the support from the Catholic Relief Services. For its part, Caritas Jordan will provide needed support which includes in-kind relief materials and humanitarian aid which will be  delivered through the charitable organization.

This agreement confirms the mission and role of Caritas Jordan, which was established for more than 53 years, in supporting the poor and the needy, and enhancing the personal capabilities of needy groups which includes providing primary medical services, maternal, and child services. Efforts are also directed towards helping refugees, displaced people, as well as victims of wars and disasters in cooperation with several partners including the Catholic Relief Services which seeks to help the poor and promote comprehensive human development.

Furthermore, this agreement confirms the continuous partnership of Caritas Jordan with the JHCO since its establishment in 1990, which revolves around the values of affiliation and growth, voluntary work, and community service, in addition to providing emergency assistance in cases of disasters and public calamities.

Many thanks go to Caritas Jordan for its humanitarian gestures which exude love, peace, harmony, and common living at a time when people in the Gaza Strip are pummeled by multiple crises including food shortages, economic meltdown, mass unemployment, as well as cuts of fuel and electricity.

In another incident that reflects its noble message which expresses mercy and compassion, Caritas Jordan on August 9, 2021 sent a shipment of medicines to Caritas Lebanon in the hope of alleviating the suffering of the ill.

This attitude expressed by Caritas Jordan to help the brethren in humanity elsewhere is worthy gratitude and appreciation as it represents support for the needy and the ill who lost hope in life and fret while looking for suitable aid that heals their ailments and provide them with the panacea that restores to them good health.
