November 22 marks the feast of the Savior of the world and the King of the Universe, namely Lord Jesus Christ.
The Holy Bible states that when Lord Jesus Christ was asked by Pilate if he was a king, Jesus said that he was definitely a King. So, what sort of a king is Jesus?
Lord Jesus is the King of Universe because He cares for those who seek His help. He cares for the sick and provides them with healing; cares for the blind and restores their eyesight; cares for the heartbroken by showing them His mercy and compassion; cares for the poor and needy by providing them with the courage to face the troubles of life; and all in all He heals the ailments of the world with His love and guidance.
When we try to locate Lord Jesus, our king, we find Him consoling the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the homeless, the poor, the rejected, the ill, and those in prison. When we turn our attention to each other we find Lord Jesus next to us, so if we open our hearts as well our eyes we will see Christ the King in everyone we meet.
LORD JESUS CHRIST IS TRULY LORD OVER ALL
Pope Pius XI instituted the Feast of Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, in 1925 to help the Church respond to rising secularism and atheism in the world. In his papal encyclical Quas Primas, he inaugurated the Feast of Christ the King saying: “Oh, what happiness would be ours if all people, individuals, families, and nations, would but let themselves be governed by Christ?”
Pope Pius XI desired to remind the world that Lord Jesus Christ is truly Lord over all. This feast day is a testament that He is the leader of the church and the ruler of the universe who guides His Church with His providence. He is our father and brother… the Good shepherd Who cares for His sheep and overwhelms them with His love and care. He is the one who sacrificed Himself on the Cross to save humanity and cleanse the sins of the world with His pure blood. He died, rose from the dead, and He is alive and willingly ready to alleviate the suffering of humanity.
On the Feast of Christ the King, let us invite Lord Jesus Christ to reign over our minds, our hearts, our future, and our lives.
