They also commended the joint efforts of the state and the Church in preparing for this visit, which took place at the highest levels and highlighted Lebanon’s exemplary image.
During the meeting, participants discussed the items on the agenda, most notably the report of the Secretary General and the various departments. They reaffirmed the importance of the issue of releasing the abducted Metropolitans Yohanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yazigi, as well as all abducted clergy and laypersons, and the need to expedite the clarification of their fate.
At the conclusion of their meeting, as the feast of the Nativity of the Lord Jesus in the flesh approaches, the participants raised thanksgiving to the Lord, the incarnate God, praying that He may dwell in the hearts of all and unite them as one, comfort the sorrowful and afflicted, heal the sick, support orphans and widows, and strengthen His people in the land where He chose to become incarnate, so that they may bear witness with one heart and one love to the joy of His saving birth, proclaiming: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and good hope to humankind.” (Luke 2:14)
