On Saturday, March 29, 2025, Msgr. Iyad Twal, Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan, presided at a Holy Mass at St. George the Martyr Church in Irbid, during which he consecrated the church's new altar.
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Firas Aridah, the parish priest, Fr. Baha' Istifan, the parish priest of Mafraq, and two deacons, namely Youssef Fattal and Ramzi. It was attended by Mother Agnes Yaacoub, the former Superior General of the Rosary Sisters, along with several Rosary Sisters in Irbid, parish officials, and the faithful.
Fr. Aridah welcomed Msgr. Twal at the entrance of the convent, where he was greeted by the sisters, the parish council, and the Greek Catholic Scouts in Irbid.
In his speech, Fr. Aridah welcomed Msgr. Twal on his first visit to the parish, expressing gratitude for accepting the invitation and presiding over the celebration. He also emphasized that the parish of Irbid is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year. He added: "The Jubilee is a time of joy, grace, and thanksgiving… It is also a time of repentance… a time for the Lord to pass among His people, an opportunity for reflection and life review, and a chance to move forward toward a better future."
At the end of the Mass, Msgr. Twal presented Mr. Nizam Bader with the Golden Cross of the Holy Sepulchre, on behalf of His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, in recognition of his valuable service and efforts in completing the restoration work and the new altar of St. George the Martyr Church in Irbid.
