As part of his four-day pastoral visit to Smakieh, southern Jordan, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, on Friday November 8, anointed the sick, visited several families as well as some Latin Patriarchate priests and celebrated Holy Mass at the new sports hall. In the afternoon, he visited some families, then met with dignitaries of the Majali tribe at the Majali Council in the Qasr area, and concluded the day by meeting with members of the  Apostolic functionaries at the parish of St. Michael’s Church Council.

Cardinal Pizzaballa arrived in Smakieh on November 7 on a four-day pastoral visit to the parish of St. Michael. Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by parish priest Fr. Khalid Qammoh and a large number of the people of the town. As large crowds of people were present to welcome him, the parish priest wished that Cardinal Pizzaballa's visit would bring about blessings and grace to everybody, while Psalm 150 was prayed for the intention of his visit to the town of Smakieh.

It is worthy to note that Cardinal Pizzaballa pays pastoral visits on regular bases. In a previously unpublicized visit, Cardinal Pizzaballa, entered the Gaza Strip on May 16, 2024 reaching Holy Family Parish for his first pastoral visit since the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza. The visit was designed to show support with the suffering people. During the visit, he said, "It was a long time I wanted, desired, to be with them, to meet them. Now I had this possibility and I am very happy.”

He also conducted a pastoral visit to Taybeh from June 1, 2024, until June 3, 2024, during which he spent a fruitful time with the parish, by providing spiritual and pastoral guidance to the priests, sisters, and the faithful. Furthermore, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 he paid a solidarity visit to the Latin parish of Jenin.
