On the third day of his pastoral visit to Smakieh, southern Jordan, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, visited the Latin Patriarchate School. During the visit, he urged the students to be witnesses with their knowledge and faith, as well as to strive to build their beloved country, namely Jordan.
Then, he proceeded to visit several governmental centers which included a health center, a youth center, and the Ras Al-Smakieh" Association and visited the Catholic Church endowment which is affiliated with the Latin Patriarchate. He also inaugurated the "Smakieh Roots Association", established to serve the people of the area, a bakery and a water station.
Cardinal Pizzaballa was accompanied during the visit by parish priest Fr. Khalid Qammoh, Fr. Ayham Zayadin, Chancellor of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem Fr. Davide Meli, Deacon Za'al Hijazin, and nuns. Later, Cardinal Pizzaballa celebrated Holy Mass with a congregation of believers at St. Michael's Church.
Cardinal Pizzaballa arrived in Smakieh on November 7 on a four-day pastoral visit to the parish of St. Michael. As part of his four-day pastoral visit to Smakieh, he anointed the sick, visited several families as well as some Latin Patriarchate priests.
