On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan Bishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso patronized the graduation ceremony of the third batch of "Ambassadors of Hope" which was held at the Rosary Sisters College in Shmeisani, Amman.
At the outset of the ceremony, Fr. Dr. Rif'at delivered a welcoming address in which he praised the role of the "Ambassadors of Hope" in the Jubilee Year and welcomed Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan Bishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso, priests, nuns, and guests. Then, students Marla Abu Al-Sha'ir and Catherine Sawaqed offered prayers for the "Ambassadors of Hope" and for peace in the world, especially in the Holy Land and the Middle East.
On the other hand, Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan Bishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso delivered an address in which he praised the role played by the "Ambassadors of Hope" who act within "the Springs of Hope" Initiative, and function in the spirit of the "Talitha Kum" International networks in combating human trafficking. He expressed his pleasure about patronizing the graduation ceremony, which provides parishes and schools with new ambassadors who disseminate the spirit of love, benevolence, and respect for human dignity.
He also expressed his admiration for the Catholic schools in Jordan, which place great emphasis on spiritual and human development. He underlined the need to encourage children and their families to make pilgrimage trips to the various Christian pilgrimage sites in Jordan, noting that he always remembers Jordan in his prayers so that it may remain an oasis of security, stability, and peace in this part of the world.
Director of the Rosary Sisters College of Shmeisani Sister Lilia Nimri delivered an address in which she praised the role of the "Springs of Hope" Initiative in combating human trafficking and the role played by the "Ambassadors of Hope" within their parishes and communities in spreading the spirit of "Talita Kum" whose core message is respect for human dignity. She also affirmed the Rosary Sisters College's continued support for its humanitarian activities.
Coordinator of the "Springs of Hope" initiative in Jordan Sister Cecile Hijazin delivered an address during which she thanked the patron of the ceremony, the attendees, the guests, and everyone who supports this initiative and its extended efforts. She also congratulated the Apostolic Nuncio marking his birthday, which coincides with the birthday of Saint John the Baptist, and conveyed well-wishes to the graduates from the various parishes and the participating schools.
Then, Dr. Ra'eda Sweidan gave a presentation designed to introduce parents and attendees to the "Springs of Hope" Initiative, which is an offshoot of the "Talita Kum" International network, as well as praised its role in encouraging various initiatives and activities aimed at spreading the network's spirit in parishes and schools through "Ambassadors of Hope". Then, students of the Latin Patriarchate School in Marka Shamali presented some hymns.
Later, Mrs. Samar Smeirat, executive director of the Latin Patriarchate Schools highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the Latin Patriarchate Schools and the "Springs of Hope" Initiative, which aims at creating a generation aware of the value of humans in society, while emphasizing the need to respect the dignity of humans who are created in the image and likeness of God.
Then a video film was screened summarizing the various activities undertaken recently by the students including lectures, spiritual retreats, and prayers. This was followed by presenting certificates and gifts to the graduates, the sponsors, the lecturers, and those who have contributed to "the Springs of Hope" Initiative.
It is noteworthy that "the Springs of Hope" in Jordan is a youth initiative supervised by Sister Cecile Hijazin. It is an off-shoot of the "Talita Kum" International network, founded in 2009 by the International Union of Superiors of Religious Congregations to serve as an initiative aimed at combating human trafficking, helping the victims of this social scourge, in addition to supporting survivors, their families, and those exposed to all forms of exploitation.
The network's name is taken from the Gospel account of Lord Jesus Christ's resurrection of Jairus' 12-year-old daughter: "He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha kum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). (Mark 5:41). These words convey a message for the network's members to rise up with courage and hope, and to stand by the victims and survivors of human trafficking, in order to build a just world where every person enjoys dignity in fulfillment of Lord Jesus Christ's message: "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full."
