Marking the onset of October, the month of the Holy Rosary, the Feast of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, the approaching celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, and coinciding with the Jubilee of Christian Education Teachers which started in Rome this week, parish priest of the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in Northern Marka Fr. Imad Twal celebrated a Holy Mass attended by the school teachers, Christian education teachers, nuns, and students. At the outset of the Holy Mass, students presented a brief “sketch” on the Feast of the Annunciation marking the month of the Holy Rosary. The students took part in serving the Holy Mass by reading verses from the Hoy Mass and singing hymns.
In His homily, Fr. Imad Twal spoke about the Jubilee of Christian Education Teachers and the duties that teachers must fulfill in their educational mission, while urging them to pray and adhere to the recommendations of the Pontiff in the Jubilee Year. Fr. Imad also spoke about the month of October, which is dedicated to honoring Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, and the need to pray the Rosary for families and for the grace of peace. He also reviewed the life of Saint Marie Alphonsine, the founder of the Rosary Sisters Congregation, as well as the life of Fr. Yousef Tannous, one of the founders of the congregation on the anniversary of his death marked on September 30. At the end of his homily, Fr. Twal urged teachers and students to pray the Rosary this month for the intention of peace in the Holy Land and the entire world.
The Mass included supplications for the intention of the Church, the Pontiff, for the clergy, as well as for the parish priest so that God would strengthen him in his pastoral duties, for the Christian education teachers and students, for all those who suffer from despair, and for those present to be messengers of hope.
With their white candles adorned with blue sashes, the students advanced toward the altar, carrying the Mass bread and wine in honor of the saints of October. One of the students wore the Rosary nun's habit, another wore the habit of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, while one of the students wore the vestment of Priest Youssef Tannous.
The Holy Mass concluded with the hymn "Look at me," written by Saint Marie Alphonsine, while the students, nuns, and teachers gathered around the altar with the Fr. Imad to pose for a commemorative photo.
