Amman Latin Vicariate media :

In an atmosphere reflecting constructive dialogue, Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal has taken part in a working dinner in the city of Como, Italy, with a group of professionals and specialists engaged in charitable work and social initiatives. Discussions focused on Eastern Arab Christianity as well as its historic and humanitarian role in the region.

Bishop Iyad highlighted opportunities for cooperation with Italian institutions, emphasizing that Jordan represents a model of common living and stability, as well as it is a country rich in initiatives that deserve support and partnership.

During the meeting, Bishop Twal extended an open invitation to the attendees to visit Jordan, particularly while marking the millennial celebration of the Baptism of Lord Jesus Christ in the Jordan River, a major spiritual event that is attracting global attention.

The attendees expressed their interest in enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise, while affirming their readiness to explore new opportunities that serve communities and promote shared humanitarian values.

It is worthy to note that Bishop Twal had earlier celebrated Holy Mass at the historic Como Cathedral, which was concelebrated by several priests and attended by a large congregation of the faithful.

He also met with Cardinal Oscar Cantoni to discuss the situation of the Church and the Christian presence in the Middle East; and delivered a lecture at the Cardinal Ferrari Center on the Christian presence in the Middle East, stressing that Christianity is an integral part of the region’s identity despite the prevailing challenges and the emigration it faces. He also underlined Jordan’s role as a model of common living and a message of peace.
