MECC continues to support vulnerable Lebanese families

mecc.org and en.abouna.org :

The Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) is still pursuing its disaster relief role in Beirut, in response to the urgent necessities resulting from the port blast and its catastrophic repercussions.

This goes in light of the worsening economic crises in Lebanon and the massive outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic all over the country. As the MECC continues its humanitarian mission by providing a new batch of relief supplies to the poorest and neediest families, a program was launched in order to support the Lebanese in overcoming the difficult circumstances and its repercussions as well as in providing a new batch of aid to the affected and afflicted people.

Consequently, these relief supplies were distributed to 1,625 families and included vouchers to buy food and various materials, hygiene kits and food rations.

Furthermore, the Service and Relief Department-Diakonia distributed 805 food rations and vouchers to the citizens living in Mount Lebanon, South Lebanon, Akkar and the Bekaa. This distribution was made in cooperation and coordination with several international organizations such as GM-UCC, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Presbyterian Church U.S.A (PCUSA) and Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD), the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF), FIDA, Emergency Relief and Development Overseas (ERDO) and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA).
