New film on the Sacred Heart of Jesus to premier in June for 250th anniversary of United States

James O'Reilly/ romereports.com :

On June 11, 2026, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in honor of the country's 250th anniversary.

To help American Catholics celebrate and appreciate this national consecration, a powerful new French film, dubbed in English, will premier for U.S. audiences from June 9-14.

Simply titled "Sacred Heart", the film is a docudrama directed by a Catholic couple, Steven and Sabrina Gunnell. It recounts Jesus Christ’s apparitions to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 17th century France, and it includes several moving testimonies of faith about the power of the devotion to the Sacred Heart.

The film, which was first screened in October 2025 in France, faced immense opposition from certain corners of the anti-Catholic, progressive French elite—even French state-owned companies refused to advertise the film.

Despite this opposition, the movie has made a splash in France since its release—nearly half a million tickets sold and record attendance per screening. It has also allegedly caused a wave of conversions to the Catholic faith.

Secular France gifted the Statue of Liberty to the USA to honor the American Republic's 100th anniversary—Catholic France now gifts the United States this humble but powerful film to honor its 250th.
